T i m e

My Grandpa he was a salesman

Sailed around Rhode Island's tide

And my nana was a painter

Painted us all with the ink of Grandpa’s blue eyes

But even in the shade, every painting fades

You can run away to Kathmandu

Float along the Rhine

And the winds of today may help to carry you

But you can’t run away from time

He ran down to the hospital when he heard the fall

And though her face looked familiar, it wasn’t her at all

Glazed and prone and all alone she can’t understand

His lips quiver, “No please Mum, just let me hold your hand.”

And as she falls apart, it breaks an old mans heart.

You can run away to Kathmandu

Float along the Rhine

And the winds of today may help to carry you

But you can’t run away from time
