Alamay

Rufus jumped in far too soon

with young Alamay one sunny afternoon

holding so close said he loved her the most he'd ever known

Swinging to flat picked bluegrass tunes

and toasting champagne on crisp clear blue moons

Holding so close said he loved her the most he'd ever known

But time sweeps through and takes all things new away

Years go by and soon old Rufus had to say

Hey Alamay well I'm gone gone gone gone gone gone I'm gone

Fancy free and floating by

hey poor Alamay was left alone to cry

Now he's out with the others found love in another vine

Rufus jumps in far too fast

batting eyes swinging tales, this monkey love won't last

leaving each heart more broken with all strong words that he's spoken over time

Because time sweeps through and takes all things new away

Years go by and darling even if I stay

Hey Alamay well I'm gone gone gone gone gone gone I'm gone
